What an incredible evening we experienced at this year’s Catwalk for Cancer Research at Edinburgh STYLE. Bringing together fashion, courage, and community spirit, the event proved to be a powerful celebration of resilience—and a huge success, raising £7,850 for life-saving cancer research.
Held at St James Quarter, the show was far more than a fashion event. It was a platform for storytelling, awareness, and hope. Twenty remarkable individuals, each with their own personal experience of cancer, took to the catwalk to showcase a stunning collection of curated pre-loved fashion. Their confidence, strength, and authenticity made for an unforgettable and deeply moving show.
Behind the scenes, stylist Ian Tod worked with all participants to create a show that was both stylish and meaningful, proving that fashion can be a powerful force for good.
One of the standout participants was Danielle Quinn, whose journey with a rare form of ovarian cancer has been both challenging and inspiring. Alongside her was operatic soprano Monica McGhee, whose performance on the night was incredibly emotive—her powerful voice and presence brought a tear to the eye and created one of the evening’s most memorable moments. The show also featured others who have faced diagnoses ranging from breast cancer to Hodgkin’s lymphoma, each bringing their own story to the stage and helping to spark important conversations.
The evening was expertly compered by Kylie Reid and elevated by a fantastic mix of entertainment, including live performance by Edinburgh Dance Academy, an art exhibition, and a charity “supermarket” featuring pre-loved clothing.
Most importantly, the event demonstrated the strength of the community coming together for a shared purpose. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every item bought contributes to the vital work of Cancer Research UK—helping to fund research that saves lives.
“Raising £7,850 in one evening is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported, participated in, and attended the event. Your generosity and enthusiasm made this night such a success.
As we reflect on the evening, one thing is clear: this was about so much more than fashion. It was about hope, resilience, and making a difference—together.” Lou Kiddier, Chair Of Business Beats Cancer Edinburgh.
